Invest in Abuja’s rich water and land resources – Agric Secretary woos investors
Mandate Secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat Mallam Abubakar Ibrahim made this call on the occasion of “Abuja Day” at the just concluded 17th edition of the Abuja International Tradefair which took place at the Abuja International Trade and Convention Centre, Airport Road Abuja.
According to him, apart from being blessed with rich resources across the various Agricultural value chains, the availability of world-class infrastructure makes it very suitable for viable Agricultural investment.
He appreciated the Honourable Minister, FCT Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello and the Honourable Minister of State FCT Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu for ensuring that all the Secretariats, Departments and Agencies (SDAs) of the FCT Administration fully keyed into the Ease of Doing Business initiative which according to him has begun to yield fruitful results with the coming on stream of the Special Agro-industrial Zones anchored by the Africa Development Bank (AfDB) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
While informing the gathering on the new initiatives to boost Agricultural production an impetus in the FCT, the Mandate Secretary called for the support of investors in bolstering the Greenhouse Agricultural initiative as well as promoting the practice of Organic Agriculture in the FCT.
Mallam Abubakar further allayed fears from some quarters of the security situation, assuring them that the community engagement strategy adopted by the Administration to encourage dialogue has ensured that the FCT remains very peaceful and conducive for social and economic activities.
Highlights of the activities to mark the day was a visit by some of the participants to the Agric Secretariat Stand in the FCT pavilion which featured an exhibition of various Agricultural produce as well distribution of information materials on the Agri-investment potentials in FCT.
